14 GFI Boxes arrived in General Santos City

Thank you Galing Foundation, Inc. Mindanao Outreach Volunteers! 14 boxes of educational resources donated by the Queen of Angels Catholic School in Roswell, Georgia in June arrived in General Santos City last August. The resources are segregated accordingly to benefit:
1. Lamlifew Indigenous Peoples Integrated School
2. Maligo Elementary School
3. Kinam Elementary School
4. Kihan National High School 
5. Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School

GFI boxes 355 - 368 from Queen of Angels Catholic School Donations










Another bulk donation from the Queen of Angels Catholic School in Roswell, Georgia, USA for the Galing Foundation, Inc. This year, there are 14 Balikbayan boxes containing awesome books, school supplies and classroom resources to benefit the following Galing Foundation, Inc. Mindanao Outreach Schools: 1. Lamlifew Indigenous Peoples Integrated School 2. Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School 3. Kinam National High School 4. Kinam Elementary School 5. Maligo Elementary School Volunteers were engaged in preparing the empty boxes, putting educational resources in the boxes and sealing them off. On May 30, volunteers spent 5 work hours (11am - 4pm) to do the process. The Atlas Shippers International picked up the boxes on May 31, 2018. Expected departure of the shipment from Savannah port will be last week of June and the expected arrival of the boxes in General Santos City will be 3 months after shipment.

AMQNHS Youth Leadership Awardee

For the first time, the Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School also adopted the Galing Foundation, Inc. Youth Leadership Awards program. Their first YLA recipient is Felipe Wata Jr. During their Moving Up ceremony, the students and parents proudly wore their traditional clothing and accessories.

Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School Graduation


Graduates of Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School in their traditional clothing and accessories last April 2, 2016. Majority of the students belong to the Blaan Indigenous Peoples group of the Philippines. They were joined by the school principal, invited personalities and honored guest speaker from DepEd Schools Division in Sarangani Province, Mr. Romy Martin.

Amado M. Quirit National High School Shared Educational Resources to Another High School

22 GFI boxes were picked up by Sulong Karunungan Team




Thank you to the Sulong Karunungan Program of Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon in facilitating the pick up, sorting and turn over of books to Kinam National High School in Barangay Kinam, Malapatan. The principal, Maan Jennifer Dela Sierra, is the former school principal of Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School.

Other school recipients for the 22 boxes are:

2. Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School - Kihan, Malapatan

Fil-Am Teacher Dr. Joel Aquino's Science Workshop in Sarangani Province

Dr. Joel Aquino was one of the 10 honored teacher’s during the 1st Fil-Am Teachers of Georgia  recognition/appreciation ceremonies held last June 30, 2015. Being touched after the GFI Mindanao Outreach presentation, Dr. Aquino proposed for a visit in one of the GFI assisted schools in Sarangani and conduct science workshop to benefit High School Teachers. This is a pilot missions trip by a GFI partner from Atlanta. A mini-travel grant was given by GFI in support to Dr. Aquino's visit during the welcome dinner with former Philippines President Fidel V. Ramos at the residence of Honorary Consul General Ray Donato.

On June 6, Dr. Aquino conducted the half-day training focused on science activities benefitting Science High School teachers of Sarangani Province. The principals of the two GFI recipient schools, Lamlifew Elementary School and Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School, also attended the workshop. It was held at the Kasfala Hall, Capitol Compound, Alabel, Sarangani. Below was the flow of the Science workshop that teachers can easily replicate in their classrooms:

17 boxes of books donated by Queen of Angels Catholic School










17 Galing Foundation, In. boxes were packed on May 27, 2015 by volunteers Toni Daya Luetgers, Arjho Carino Turner. M and Hannah Turner also donated some of their toys for the Blaan kids in Sarangani Province. The new and gently used books and other educational resource materials were donated by Queen of Angels Catholic School in Roswell, Georgia. This batch will benefit the following:
1. Lamlifew Elementary School - Datal Tampal, Malungon
2. Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School - Kihan, Malapatan
3. Naidas Opong Elementary School - Kihan, Malapatan
4. Kiahe Integrated School - Malapatan
