March 27, 2015 marks a milestone date for the graduates of Lamlifew Elementary School in Datal Tampal, Malungon, Sarangani Province. Students (15 boys, 18 girls) marched proudly alongside with their parents in their traditional costume. Considered by the Department of Education(DepEd) School of Division of Sarangani Province as a model Indigenous People (IP) school, it is the pride of their community that these graduates are culturally grounded and are proud of their Blaan identity.
Graduation guests included Maam Donna Panes of the DepEd-School Division
Office, some school supporters/partners and Sulong Sarangani Program staff
(Sulong Karunungan and Sulong Tribu programs).
Sir Ireneo Caya also noted that "the community will open a high school in June to ensure that all graduates will transition to Grade 7 in alignment with the new K-12 program of the Department of Education."
