GFI Boxes 369-370

Galing Foundation, Inc. box numbers 369-370 were picked up on October 21, 2018. Thanks to the Moriles Family, Cross Culture Church members, Cross of Life Church members, and Boline family for donating the educational resource materials.

The educational resource materials will benefit Lamlifew Indigenous Peoples Integrated School in Datal Tampal, Malungon, Sarangani Province.

GFI boxes 351-354

May 24, 2018 -  Galing Foundation, Inc. boxes 351 - 354 were picked up by Atlas Shippers International, Inc. represented by Mr. Pocholo Espejo. The payment includes shipment for 4 boxes and the 16 empty Atlas boxes that will be used for next shipment of educational resources. The boxes  was delivered by Pocholo to Savannah Port for the Atlas Container that departed last week of May from the USA going to the Philippines. 2-3 months after shipment, the boxes are expected to arrive in General Santos City.

The 4 boxes of educational resources (some photos below) will benefit Landan National High School and Maligo Public Library.

GFI boxes 355 - 368 from Queen of Angels Catholic School Donations

Another bulk donation from the Queen of Angels Catholic School in Roswell, Georgia, USA for the Galing Foundation, Inc. This year, there are 14 Balikbayan boxes containing awesome books, school supplies and classroom resources to benefit the following Galing Foundation, Inc. Mindanao Outreach Schools: 1. Lamlifew Indigenous Peoples Integrated School 2. Amado M. Quirit Sr. National High School 3. Kinam National High School 4. Kinam Elementary School 5. Maligo Elementary School Volunteers were engaged in preparing the empty boxes, putting educational resources in the boxes and sealing them off. On May 30, volunteers spent 5 work hours (11am - 4pm) to do the process. The Atlas Shippers International picked up the boxes on May 31, 2018. Expected departure of the shipment from Savannah port will be last week of June and the expected arrival of the boxes in General Santos City will be 3 months after shipment.

Blaan Women's Clothing Exhibition at the Atlanta Fernbank Museum of Natural History

Come and visit the Atlanta Fernbank Museum of Natural History's "Reflections of Culture" exhibition featuring the Blaan Women's Clothing of the Philippines. This particular engagement is presented by the Galing Foundation, Inc.in partnership with the Philippines Honorary Consulate Office in Atlanta and the Fernbank Museum.
The following cultural materials from the collections of Galing Foundation, Inc. Board Member Josephine "Arjho" Turner (half-Blaan) are featured in this specific exhibition space: 1. Beaded embroidery for the blouse (Albung/Lbung Sanlah/Slah) done by Blaan embroiderers of Amgu-o, Landan, Polomolok, South Cotabato 2. Blaan Traditional textile (Tabih), tubular skirt or "Tabih Dafeng" from the fusion of two designs (Tabih Amlatoh/Mlatoh and Tabih Fule) are the works of Bai Yabing Masalon Dulo, Manlilikha ng Bayan/Philippine National Living Treasure for Blaan Tabih (ikat weaving) 3. Brass belt (Sabitan), heirloom piece 4. Anklets (Babat/Singkil), heirloom pieces 5. Beaded necklace (Slah) done by Lamlifew Tribal Women's Association Photo inset was taken by Cocoy A. Sexcion in Lamlifew, Datal Tampal, Sarangani Province featuring Blaans wearing diverse clothing that is representative of the influence of other people groups like Tboli and Maguindanaon to the material culture of the Blaan. Lamlifew I.P. Integrated School Graduation for Grade VI

Students proudly wearing clothing done in their community during the 21st Graduation Exercises for Grade Six at Lamlifew Indigenous Peoples Integrated School on April 4, 2018. Their proud parents also marched alongside with them with so much pride for this milestone of their child. This community is predominantly Blaan, one of the Indigenous Peoples Groups of the Philippines.

2017-2017 YLA and Best in English trophies and medals

Two schools, Maligo Elementary School and the Lamlifew Indigenous Peoples Integrated School, implemented the Youth Leadership and Best in English Awards this year. Youth Leadership Award trophy and Best in English medals were customized with names of the awardees. 

Project Cost: 
1. 2 Trophies and 15 medals = PhP 2,950.00 
2. Volunteer transportation   = PhP 300.00 (for Maligo Elementary School Moving Up Ceremony represented by GFI Volunteer "Volvic" Ysmael Carino.
